7.10 Communication failure in IPv6 multicast routing
This section describes the measures to be taken when IPv6 multicast communication
is not possible in the router.
7.10.1 No communication is possible in the PIM-SM network
7.10.1.1 PIM-SM network

When Packets Sent from Transmitting Origin S1 to G1 through an IPv6 PIM-SM
Network cannot be Received at Host #1
Step 1. Ensure that the RP packages employed in all the Routers are RP-C6 or
RP-D6. If a different RP package is used, the log: “Please note that the RPs
shown below do not support the IPv6 Multicasting features” will remain.
Step 2. Charge the show ipv6 mld interface command in router #3, and confirm that
the interface with host #1 is displayed, and free of definition for suppression
on relaying using a filter.
Step 3. Charge the show ipv6 mld group command in router #3, and confirm that
host #1 is participating in the G1 group.
Step 4. Charge the show ipv6 mroute command in router #3, and confirm that the
IPv6 multicast routing cash (S, G) from transmitter S1 to G1, and the IPv6
multicast routing cash (*, G) to G1 exist.
If they don’t exist, confirm that the interface definition of the IPv6 PIM-SM
between this router and #1 and #2 is “enabled,” and free of definition for
suppression when relaying using a filter.
Step 5. Charge the show ipv6 mroute command in router #1, and confirm that the
IPv6 multicast routing cash from transmitter S1 to G1 exist. If they don’t
exist, confirm that the interface definition of the IPv6 PIM-SM with S1 is
“enabled”, and free of definition for suppression when relaying using a filter.
Step 6. If a IPv6 routing cash downstream does not exist, confirm that router #2
and router #3 are indicated by the show ipv6 pim neighbor. If the IPv6
routing cash does not exist, charge the show ipv6 pim bsr and the show
ipv6 pim rp mapping, and confirm that the BSR and rendezvous point (RP)
are router #2.
Step 7. If the BSR and rendezvous point (RP) do not exist, or are not router #2,
charge the show ipv6 pim bsr and the show ipv6 pim rp mapping
commands, and confirm that this router is the BSR and rendezvous point
(RP). If this router is not the BSR and rendezvous point, confirm that the
